Bismillah hir-Rahman nir-Raheem

Advice of the Prophet (Sallal laahu alaihi wasallam)

Once The Prophet Muhammad (Sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) said to Sayyiduna Ali (radi Allahu anhu): “Do five things before going to bed at night,

a. Give four thousand Dinars Sadqa,

b. Read one complete Holy Quran,

c. Pay the price for Janna'h,

d. Make two people happy with each other when they are upset and

e. Perform one Hajj.”

Hazrat Ali (radi Allahu anhu) said, "O Prophet of Allah, this is very difficult for me." The Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) then said,

a. “Read four times Surah Faatiha, and you shall gain the Sawaab of giving four thousand Dinars in charity,

b. Read Surah Ikhlaas (Qul hu Allahu Ahad) thrice, and you will gain the Sawaab of reciting one Holy Quran,

c. Recite Durood Shareef (Salawat) thrice, and you will gain the Sawaab of Jannah;

d. Recite Astaghfirullah (Astaghfirullah Rabbi min Qulli Zambyu Wa Aatubu Ilaih) ten times, and you will gain the reward of making peace between two people fighting, and

e. Recite the third Kalima (Subhaanallahi Wal Humdu lillahi Wa Laa Ilaha Ilal laahu Allahu Akbar Wa Laa Hawla Wa laa Quwata Illa Bil laahil Aliyil Azeem) four times and you will gain the reward of making Hajj."

On hearing these words, Hazrat Ali (radi Allahu anhu) said: "As from this day onwards, I will always follow this practice."

Importance of Durood Shareef (Salawat) :

"Innal llaha wa Malaa'ikatahu Yu salluna allan nabiyi. Ya Ayyuhal lazeena aamanu sallu alaihi wasallimu tasleema." (Surah Ai-Ahzab, Verse 56)

Almighty Allah says: "Surely Allah and His Angels send blessings on the Holy Prophet (Sall Allahu ‘alaihi wa Salim). O you who believe! Send Blessings (Durood) and Salutations (Salaams) on the Prophet with worthy Salutation". (Al-Quran 33: 56)

Recite Durood Shareef:

Allahumma salli ala Muhammadi(n)’w wa ala aali Muhammadin kama sallyta ala Ibraheema wa ala aali ibraheema Innaka hameedum majeed. Allahumma barik ala Muhammadi(n)’w wa ala aali Muhmmadin kama barakta ala Ibraheema wa ala aali ibraheema Innaka hameedum majeed.

Allah, send Your mercy on Muhammad and his posterity as you sent Your mercy on Abraham and his posterity. You are the Most Praised, the Most Glorious. Allah, send Your Blessings on Muhammad and his posterity as you sent Your blessings on Abraham and his posterity. You are the Most Praised, the Most Glorious.

Salamu 'Alaukum
I used to practice this for a long time before I found out that the hadith is not authentic.
Therefore you should Always try and find out, when you hear a hadith, if the hadith is authentic or not.
May Allah guide us all to the straight path and save us from false information. Ameen

Under the heading "importance of durood shareef" you have quoted Ayat No.56 of Surah Alahzab which clearly says " O you who believe! Send Blessings (Durood) and Salutations (Salaams) on the Prophet with worthy Salutation". (Al-Quran 33: 56)" whereas in Durood Ibrahimee there is no "salaam"/salutation. Are we allowed to defy and contradict the Quranic orders? After disobeying Quran and Allah we still remain "ahl-e-Eeman"??
